Welcome to Shepherd’s Run – where dogs aren’t just allowed… they’re celebrated.
Tucked away on 1.6 private acres just minutes from Downtown Ellijay, this fully renovated 1940s cottage blends rustic charm with modern comfort—creating a relaxed, dog-first retreat surrounded by open pastures, mountain views, and nature at its best. In spring and summer, wild peppermint blankets the grounds, filling the air with a fresh, calming scent you won’t forget.
A true paradise for your dogs (and just as special for you):
Your furry companions will have the time of their lives with two fully fenced play areas. One is designed for fun and exploration—complete with a fire pit, agility-style seesaw, three truck tires, a “sniffari” path with natural textures, balls of all sizes, and a giant sandbox for digging. There’s even a doggy pool (stored under the deck) for warmer days.
Whether they love to run, sniff, dig, or simply lounge in the sun—this space was created with them in mind.
Inside the cabin:
This cozy 800 sq ft cottage has been thoughtfully updated while preserving its original character. You’ll find:

✔️A warm, inviting living space with a leather sofa, soft blankets, and an electric fireplace
✔️A larger Roku TV with soundbar for movie nights
✔️Custom kitchen with everything you need, including a dishwasher and butcher block dining table with seating for four
Dogs are welcome on furniture (we provide covers), so everyone can relax together—just like at home.

Conveniently located just off Old Highway 5, you’re only minutes from Downtown Ellijay (shops, restaurants, and local charm), Wineries, hiking trails, and outdoor adventures, Grocery stores and essentials and you can even walk to the famous Georgia Apple Festival in October!
A little history:
Shepherd’s Run was once a free-range mini farm, home to chickens, roosters, bunnies, and more. Since purchasing the property in 2022, we’ve lovingly transformed it into the peaceful retreat it is today—while keeping its warm, welcoming spirit alive (and yes, the red roof and doors reflect that energy perfectly).
Good to know before booking - The bathroom is shared and accessible through the main bedroom only!!
Guests have access to the entire home except a locked storage cabinet and crawlspace

Cancellation Policy: Ninety-seven percent (97.00%) of the total booking charges will be refunded if the cancellation is made more than 30 days prior to the arrival date of the reservation. Forty-seven percent (47.00%) of the total booking charges will be refunded if the cancellation is made more than 7 days prior to the arrival date of the reservation. For cancellations made within 7 days prior to the arrival date, no refund will be issued.
A signed rental agreement is required to complete your booking. A security deposit hold of $250 will be placed on the credit card on file two days prior to arrival and will be released three days after departure. This is a temporary hold only and not an actual charge.About the Owner
After successfully launching Shepherds Lounge and Paws and Linger Retreat, we’re excited to introduce our coziest property yet — designed especially for our best friends, aka doggies, aka furbabies, while still providing a quality stay for their humans! Shepherds Lounge is currently closed, but we’ll be opening a new location in 2026. In the meantime, Cozy Escape Cabin, our newest spot inside the Coosawattee River Resort, is available to book starting October 2025. A little about me: I’m originally from Austria, a veteran of the service industry, and a lifelong dog lover — I always travel with my dogs. I quickly learned how overwhelming it can be to pack everything just for them. On top of that, sleeping arrangements in many places were mediocre, leading to sleepless nights or sore backs. After long trips, I’d arrive to find empty cabinets, not even a speck of salt, an empty fridge, no shampoo, no laundry detergent — not even a bottle of water. I decided to do better. I created a place stocked with everything I wish I had upon arrival — for both humans and their furbabies.
